Hmmm ... how about you'll get to eat turkey, instead of just feeling like one? ;)

Seriously it's a really tough thing, and it sounds like you're goal-driven like me. I think the best rewards are ones that are unique to you - no one can give them to you, you have to figure out what is exciting and rewarding for you to contemplate, and then set your sights and goal realistically on that.

Given that, however, I think you're finding out that having a specific goal and reward may not be the best way to accomplish what you really want out of this; to feel, look, and be healthier! The only way that will become a consistent long-term accomplishment for you is when you are past setting goals and looking for rewards and instead just eating and living a healthier lifestyle on a daily basis. The 'diet' shouldn't be the exception to your regular life, but the rule.

OK, I'm starting to sound waaay to pedantic here, so I'll stuff a sock in it (high fiber of course) and leave you alone! But I've been there and worse - when i decided to lose weight it was when i was 50# heavier than i am now, and smoked 1+ 1/2 packs a day, which i quit at the same time. So it can be done, and it can be fun too - for me I'm competitive enough that my goal wasn't pounds, it was running further distances faster, which automatically meant i lost weight and rejected cigarettes.

Good luck to ya, and if I do think of something really cool as a prize I'll let you know!

Sooooo how's the challenge going?

Got to have somebody around keeping you accountable, and I figure it might as well be me!

It is a very tough thing to lose and keep weight off - i know. I lost a little over 50# about 6 years ago through exercise and diet and, though it's taken some tweaking here and there over the years, i've been pretty good at keeping it off. I quit smoking at the same time and, oddly enough, i think that actually helped with the rest. I was so focused on the death sticks, not getting an extra serving of pie was no big deal!

I hope it's going well, I'll be praying for success in this, and don't be daunted if you don't make the goal - just keep at it at a steady pace and you'll get there!

Steve,
I am glad that you are enjoying this training. I went through this same program back in April and it was awesome! We all returned home so fired up and ready to help others in our communities that are in need. I can affirm everything that you said about Chris Hogan. What an inspiration. Enjoy the next few days in Brentwood. You will not return home with any regrets.

Wow that looks awesome steve - and all done with cash! Well done my friend. You'll have to update the topic again in 6 months after having time to settle in!

My wife and I are in the midst of finishing a slightly more involved rehab of our kitchen (it included redoing the floors and putting a porch on the back), so i'm really impressed at the speed and how good everything looks for you - pray for us having the same great end to the job!

I love it. I am also on a kitchen remodel; our demolition started the 17th. We are mercifully not doing it ourselves, so I can be amazed and astonished by what seems like a magical transformation. Good luck with yours!

The image of the stove still standing amid all the destruction is making me laugh. Those stoves will outlive us all.
